Solution Architect III
Responsibilities
Primary Function:
The Senior WebSphere Administrator will be responsible for the Design, Customization, and Implementation of robust, secure, scalable WebSphere Application Server systems on AIX, Linux, Solaris and Windows platforms.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Integrate simple to moderately complex Java/JEE, WebSphere applications into DEV, QA and Production environments. These applications can be a combination of in-house developed applications or vendor-delivered applications. Typical application deployment to include WebSphere Application Server installation, configuration, EAR file and code deployment, database connectivity, and WebServer (IIS, IBM HTTP) configuration.
Provide tier 3 support for applications
Has input into department policies and procedures
Maintains status of project responsibilities
Facilitates in planning, estimating, and reviewing tasks for application based activities
Able to review requirements and evaluate risks/benefits for a low to moderate impact project
Able to prepare implementation plan and contingency plan for supported applications for low to moderate impact projects
Must participate actively in weekly project meetings and provide input/task updates to project team.
Able to develop a mid-size project plan with low to moderate impact projects using standard project management software
Identifies risk areas and implements preventative measures
Provides technical supervision on small projects.
Able to work across functional teams to achieve group goals.
Identifies and resolves technical issues and communicates to the team
Helps to define objectives for the team, working well with CSG teams and external group teams
Enhances team productivity by helping others
Formulate and enforce application deployment and integration standards
Writes conclusive e-mails when resolving issues with the user community.
Writes comprehensive DAD documents.
On occasion, addresses a small group on a technical subject or presents a demonstration of a system.
On occasion, runs a project level meeting.
Addresses and resolves routine issues (contact/escalate to vendor through Helpdesk or agreed upon problem resolution methodology)
Coordinates activities with vendor personnel (vendor presentations, site visits, prepare for installations, etc.)
Uses fact finding techniques and analytic tools to identify problems
Takes a systematic approach to problem solving
Looks beneath the surface to identify root cause
Recognizes the need to escalate problems to a higher level
Delivers the performance that colleagues require
Takes personal ownership for problems, and follows through to ensure that solutions meet needs.
Effectively documents solutions

Qualifications
Typical Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Typical Minimum Experience: Minimum 3 years experience
Technical:
Solid understanding of the following technologies: Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP Professional, Windows 7, IIS 5.0, IIS 6.0, FTP, SMTP, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Version management – PVCS, CVS, VSS.
A firm understanding of web application coding utilizing Java, JEE, and WebServices.
Experience with PERL, UNIX Shell Scripting, JACL/Jython and Python, VB Scripting.
Strong experience with connectivity issues related to Microsoft SQL, Oracle, DB2 databases and the ability to understand complex SQL Stored Procedures.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Tools.
Assist with hardware design and topology.
Experienced with installation of WAS Network Deployment or Base 6.X/7.X, cluster creation, installation of IBM HTTP Server, WebSphere fixpack deployments, Oracle driver installation, JDBC configuration.
Create Visio architecture diagram showing all major components.
Setup and debug web server and plug-in configurations.
Ability to perform WAS troubleshooting, security and performance tuning.
Deploy application code (major releases, fixes, patches) as documented by vendor
Application specific configuration changes
Troubleshoot application related issues with the help of vendor
Participate in technical test plan creation, technical testing (DR test, unit tests)
Document Citizens’ specific application deployment and configurations
Create change control to put applications into production
Conduct project turnover to support teams
Provide third-tier support to support teams after project completion
Expertise with full software development life cycle including functional & technical specification, documentation, QA processes, source control, maintenance and deployments.
Must have a firm understanding of concepts and technologies such as SOA, Messaging, Transformation Engines, Web Services, and Data Integration techniques.
Experience with high availability solutions such as hardware load balancers, content switching, application clustering, and Oracle RAC is a plus.
Experience with Web Services, SOAP and XML
Experience with build and deployment automation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to mentor others.
Background in financial services or banking environment, and familiarity with regulatory and technology risk requirements preferred
Knowledge:
Full life-cycle implementation experience (requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing).
Experience with the setup, management, security, and optimization of IBM WebSphere Application server and web servers on AIX, LINUX, and Windows servers.
Good understanding of RDBMS systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2.
Experience of IBM MQ and IBM Message Broker Administration on AIX, LINUX, Windows servers is add on plus.
DataPower Appliance Administration, WSRR knowledge is an add-on plus.
SharePoint 2007 Administration experience is an add-on plus.

Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
