Enterprise Architect
Responsibilities
This Enterprise Architect role will be responsible for the detailed definitions of Application / Data Architecture for elements of Citizens Financial Group within the overall RBS Group Architecture , used to underpin and influence the strategic direction of Technology Services, CFG and the Group.
Understands the business needs and direction of one or more businesses and defines the resulting IT implications. Understands the broad goals and challenges for our businesses and uses that to influence the architectures, as well as shape back into the strategies for elements of Technology Services and business Divisions.
Uses a combination of techniques to undertake the detailed definition of the architecture including strategies, as-is assessments, program assessments, sustainability analysis, targets, roadmaps and briefings. Defines target application / data architectures for elements of the architecture, that align with the needs of the Group, the business divisions, Security & Risk and Technology Services.
Broad understanding of how applications are constructed (e.g. fabric, security, patterns & layers) and uses that to affect the overall shape and approach to the application architecture
Is a domain expert and key contact from S&A, for elements* of the Group and / or Divisional Architectures. Authors architectural policies on behalf of the Group. Acts as the key strategy contact for certain suppliers and interacts with and influences these suppliers to support the Group’s Strategies and Architectures.
Provides strategic insight into IT industry developments and trends to influence Divisional, Group and Technology Services’ strategy. Manages S&A initiatives to achieve the above which are aligned with departmental priorities engaging with peers and Senior/Executive Managers within the business, S&A and Technology Services.
Key outputs include strategies, as-is assessments, programme assessments, sustainability analysis, targets, roadmaps, data warehouse definitions and data migration roadmap strategies. Working in partnership across S&A and Technology Services and working with the Business to gain agreement to the proposed Architectural Strategies and supporting Target Architectures and Roadmaps resulting in inclusion of strategic components in programme / project designs or agreed as standalone strategic investments.
General direction of change for all aspects of IT systems through BAU, follow the architectures
Strategic choices made as part of product selections. Identification of common components which are then appropriately designed and re-used.
Qualifications
Requires specific areas of domain expertise within Application or Data Architecture
Requires a broad and deep understanding of technology architecture and high level design across a range of technologies
Requires a broad knowledge of the Banking and Finance sector and has the ability to identify patterns, inter-relationships and opportunities in order to shape Architectural Strategies, Architectural Policies and Target Architectures.
Requires a broad knowledge of the IT industry, how other sectors leverage IT, and has the ability to understand emerging technologies and trends and how they affect the shape of Architectural Strategies, Architectural Policies and Target Architectures
Will be able to make a significant contribution to opportunity and business case development
Will have an understanding of the technology cost drivers within any solution
Experience of working in a senior high level design or architecture role in application / data within a large scale, complex IT organisation
Experience of research, development and implementing new technologies
