Job Description

Data Architect \ DataWarehouse Developer

Responsibilities

Provide lead data architecture and data modelling support for a data warehousing and business intelligence Solutions Delivery team. Capture and/or interpret business information requirements and translate these into logical and physical data models. Develop and maintain normalized as well as dimensional data models used in business intelligence delivery architectures. Interact with enterprise data architecture, database administration and data management functions at a corporate level to ensure that application-specific data models are in compliance with corporate standards. Establish data architecture standards and best practices within the Solutions Delivery team, and, collaborate with BI/DW application developers to achieve pragmatic data models which fit the business need, sustain data quality and are easy to understand and use. Provide additional development and/or business analysis support for data warehouse/BI solutions development (such as ETL development or data validation) where possible. This position involves a high degree of communication and interaction with internal business clients and information consumers, external data source providers, and Information Technology partners involved in production deployment of designed and developed solutions.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5-7 years as a data architect, with majority of experience acquired in business intelligence and data warehouse application development environments. Expert knowledge of dimensional modelling techniques and ETL architectures. Substantial mastery of one or more data modelling tools such as ER Studio, or ERwin. Prior experience working with data modeling repository server environment and maintaining model versions/model objects which may be common to several distinct application development efforts. Additional 3-5 years working in another role within a data warehouse team, such as business/data analyst, quality assurance analyst, ETL developer or BI / information delivery developer. Excellent SQL skills and demonstrated ability to write complex SQL for purposes of analyzing data and/or evaluating how information needs might be translated into back end database structures. Prior experience modifying/deploying physical database objects (tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, etc..) in development environment. Able to assist with query performance analysis and detect possible performance issues within physical data model designs and/or database queries. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self-starter, takes initiative to anticipate and solve issues. Substantial experience designing, implementing and maintaining physical data models in either MS SQL Server (2000, 2005, 2008) or Oracle (8i, 9i, 10g) environments.

Other Information

Position based on Bridgeport, CT. Very occasional day or overnight trips to RI or MA may be required.

Hours per Week: 40.

Work Schedule: M-F 8:30-5:00
